Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer worldwide. A major risk factor in the development of skin cancer is exposure to UV radiation. But can UV-STOP protect you against all forms of skin cancer? In this blog, we will discuss how our products contribute to protection against harmful UV radiation and how that protection helps to reduce the risk of skin cancer.

The three most common types of skin cancer

Skin cancer presents in various forms. The three most prevalent types are outlined below:

  • Basal cell carcinoma (BCC): This is the least aggressive type of skin cancer. Its development is primarily linked to prolonged exposure to UV radiation.
  • Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC): This type has a greater potential for rapid development and metastasis compared to BCC. UV radiation is also a significant contributing factor.
  • Melanoma: This is the most aggressive form of skin cancer, characterized by its rapid metastatic potential. Excessive exposure to UV radiation substantially elevates the risk of melanoma.

How does UV-STOP provide protection?

UV-STOP offers products that help to reduce exposure to UV radiation. This does not mean that our products can completely prevent skin cancer, but they can contribute to lower exposure to harmful radiation. This is how UV-STOP helps:

  • UV-STOP Protection Wash: This laundry detergent increases the UV protection factor of clothing, making even ordinary clothing better at protecting against UV radiation. For example: A t-shirt that has been washed a few times has a sun protection factor of approximately 5. After washing it twice with UV-STOP, the factor is above 50(!).
  • Supplement to sunscreen: UV-protective clothing, combined with sunscreen, can offer complete protection, especially on long days in the sun.

UV-STOP as part of a wider protection strategy

While UV-STOP helps to reduce exposure to UV radiation, it is important to remember that no single product offers a complete guarantee against skin cancer. Therefore, it is advisable to take multiple protective measures:

  • Use sunscreen on areas that are not covered / cannot be covered with UV-protective clothing.
  • Stay in the shade during the strongest sun hours (often the early afternoon when the sun is very high in the sky).
  • Wear a hat and sunglasses to provide extra protection for your face and eyes.
  • Check your skin regularly for changes and consult a doctor if you have any doubts.

The importance of taking precautions

UV-STOP offers effective products that contribute to protection against UV radiation. UV radiation is, after all, a major risk factor in skin cancer. By using UV-protective clothing and laundry detergent, you can significantly reduce your exposure to UV radiation. This makes UV-STOP a valuable addition to your sun protection routine, but it is always important to take multiple precautionary measures and remain vigilant about your skin health.

On the advice of my family doctor

Due to an accident I had several burns on my body and I had been advised by my doctor to avoid the uv rays as much as possible. A colleague pointed me to the protection wash and indeed I was considerably less affected by the sun.

Playing outside again without irritation

Our youngest daughter is covered in rashes at the slightest hint of sunshine. Putting sunscreen all over her was the only solution we thought. Until we heard about UV-STOP. However, we couldn’t imagine that it would work and when we bought it we thought, don’t tell anyone because they will all laugh at us if it turns out that it doesn’t work. After the first beautiful days, we are completely converted. Great our girl just played outside with the others and she is not bothered by anything. If only we had known sooner. People believe me it really works.

Putting the test to the test

Today I took the plunge and despite the nice weather went outside with my clothes washed in UV-STOP protection wash to put it to the test and it really works. No rash nothing. What an invention.
