It’s chilly outside, the sun’s not showing its face as often, and the days are shorter. But your skin can still get damaged by UV radiation in winter. It might sound strange, but UV rays don’t take a break just because the temperature drops. In fact, you can still be exposed to UV radiation on cloudy days or even in snowy winter conditions.

In this blog, we’ll tell you why it’s important to protect your skin from UV radiation all year round and how best to do it. We’ll explain why UV-STOP products help you stay safe, even when the sun’s playing hide-and-seek.

What is UV radiation and why is it dangerous for your skin?

UV radiation is invisible to the naked eye, but it definitely affects your skin. There are two types: UVA and UVB radiation. UVA radiation penetrates deep into the skin and can cause premature aging, like wrinkles and pigmentation. UVB radiation is responsible for the more immediate damage, like sunburn. Both types of radiation are harmful, whether it’s summer or winter.

Once and for all: it’s a myth that you only need to protect yourself from UV radiation in summer. The sun can be harmful in the winter too. In fact, snow reflects UV radiation, which means you get more radiation than you think. This makes it even more important to be well-protected in winter. Even if the sun isn’t as intense in winter, your skin is always vulnerable. Even on cloudy days, enough UV radiation gets through to damage your skin. Plus, many people think they can’t get burnt in the winter, but it can happen faster than you think.

How to protect your skin in winter?

The best way to protect your skin from UV radiation in winter is simple: use a good SPF for your face and other body parts that aren’t covered up. If you want to be extra sure, wear UV-protective clothing. This is an effective way to keep the harmful rays out. We have products specifically designed to help you protect yourself all year round, including fabrics that block UV radiation. Think, for example, of clothing made from UV-protective fabrics or accessories like scarves and sleeves. These offer protection not only from the sun, but also from the cold.

Another option is the UV-Stop Protection Wash laundry detergent. This detergent ensures that your regular clothing, such as jackets and sweaters, gets an extra layer of protection against UV radiation. This way, you can go outside safely and without worries, even in the winter.

Stay aware throughout the year

Use daily SPF, wear UV-protective clothing and most importantly, be consistent. Those are our top tips for UV protection in winter. Yep, your skin needs protection all year round. With UV-Stop products, you can easily protect your skin from the harmful effects of UV radiation, whether you’re in the snow or just going for your daily walk.

On the advice of my family doctor

Due to an accident I had several burns on my body and I had been advised by my doctor to avoid the uv rays as much as possible. A colleague pointed me to the protection wash and indeed I was considerably less affected by the sun.

Playing outside again without irritation

Our youngest daughter is covered in rashes at the slightest hint of sunshine. Putting sunscreen all over her was the only solution we thought. Until we heard about UV-STOP. However, we couldn’t imagine that it would work and when we bought it we thought, don’t tell anyone because they will all laugh at us if it turns out that it doesn’t work. After the first beautiful days, we are completely converted. Great our girl just played outside with the others and she is not bothered by anything. If only we had known sooner. People believe me it really works.
