Children often spend a lot of time outdoors. Whether they’re playing in the garden, spending a day at the beach or cycling to school, their skin is regularly exposed to sunlight. Children’s skin is still developing, which makes good sun protection all the more important. In this article, we explain what to look out for when choosing sun protection for children and how you can better protect their skin against UV radiation.
Why children are particularly sensitive to UV radiation
Children’s skin is more sensitive to external factors than that of adults. As a result, UV radiation can affect their skin more quickly, especially when they spend long periods outdoors.
When playing outside, children often don’t think about sun protection. They are regularly exposed to direct sunlight without realising just how strong the sun is. This can make it difficult for parents to reapply sun cream in time during busy or active moments outdoors.
Good protection is therefore not just about sun cream, but also about extra protection through clothing. With UV-STOP Protection Wash, you can make ordinary clothes UV-resistant up to UPF 50+, ensuring children are better protected during their daily outdoor activities.
Sun cream as the basis of sun protection
A sun cream with a high sun protection factor helps protect the skin against UV radiation. It is particularly important to reapply it regularly on sunny days and when playing outdoors for long periods.
However, in practice, sun cream is not always sufficient. Protection diminishes throughout the day due to swimming, sweating, playing or drying off. Furthermore, children often forget to reapply sun cream when they are busy playing.
Clothing as extra protection from the sun
As well as sun cream, clothing can be an important addition to sun protection for children. Especially during outdoor play, holidays or sporting activities, clothing offers continuous protection without the need to reapply sun cream constantly.
With UV-STOP Protection Wash, you can make ordinary clothing UV-resistant up to UPF 50+. This gives the fabric an extra protective layer against UV radiation, which is particularly useful when children are active or spend long periods outdoors. As a result, clothing can provide an extra layer of protection alongside sun cream.
Furthermore, children sometimes find applying sun cream unpleasant, so a combination of measures can be particularly practical.
Good sun protection isn’t just important on hot summer days or during holidays. Even short periods spent outdoors count. Think of playing outside, going for a walk, cycling or an afternoon playing in the garden.
A sensible approach to sun protection for children
Sun protection for children works best when you combine different methods. Regularly applying sun cream, wearing protective clothing and being mindful of time spent in the sun all help to protect the skin more effectively.
When sun protection becomes a regular part of outdoor play, it is easier to protect children properly without any extra effort.

On the advice of my family doctor
Due to an accident I had several burns on my body and I had been advised by my doctor to avoid the uv rays as much as possible. A colleague pointed me to the protection wash and indeed I was considerably less affected by the sun.

Playing outside again without irritation
Our youngest daughter is covered in rashes at the slightest hint of sunshine. Putting sunscreen all over her was the only solution we thought. Until we heard about UV-STOP. However, we couldn’t imagine that it would work and when we bought it we thought, don’t tell anyone because they will all laugh at us if it turns out that it doesn’t work. After the first beautiful days, we are completely converted. Great our girl just played outside with the others and she is not bothered by anything. If only we had known sooner. People believe me it really works.
