UV radiation is present every day, even when it’s cloudy or doesn’t feel particularly warm. The impact of UV radiation on skin ageing is often underestimated, yet your skin changes not only with age, but also due to daily exposure to outdoor conditions. In this article, you’ll learn how UV radiation contributes to skin ageing and how you can better protect your skin when spending time outdoors.
How UV radiation affects your skin
UV radiation is always present and reaches your skin all year round, even when it is cloudy or the sun is not shining brightly. Even if you do not notice it straight away, this radiation can affect the structure of your skin.
The skin consists of layers that are capable of partial self-repair, but repeated exposure to UV radiation eventually puts a strain on this ability to repair itself. As a result, the skin can lose its firmness and elasticity more quickly.
The effect of UV radiation on skin ageing
Skin ageing is a natural process, but UV radiation can accelerate this process. This is often referred to as premature skin ageing.
It is not just about visible changes, but also about changes in the deeper layers of the skin. Because UV radiation is present every day, this effect often occurs gradually and without you realising it straight away.
Daily exposure plays a major role
Many people think that only long, sunny days affect the skin. In reality, every instance of exposure counts, even during brief moments outdoors and on cloudy days.
Think of going for a walk, cycling or sitting outside on a terrace. These moments may seem harmless, but together they place the skin under constant strain from UV radiation.
How to better protect your skin
Sun protection isn’t just about sun cream; it’s about a combination of everyday habits. Applying sun cream remains important, but in practice it isn’t always reapplied in time.
That’s why clothing can be a valuable addition. With UV-STOP Protection Wash, you can make ordinary clothing UV-resistant up to UPF 50+. This gives your skin an extra layer of protection against UV radiation, especially when you’re spending a lot of time outdoors and can’t keep reapplying sun cream.
Taking a mindful approach to skin ageing caused by UV radiation
UV radiation and skin ageing are closely linked, precisely because exposure often goes unnoticed. By being more mindful of this, you can help protect your skin in the long term.
By combining sun cream with UV-protective clothing and being mindful of how long you spend in the sun, you can reduce your overall exposure. This helps your skin maintain its natural balance during daily outdoor activities.

Short periods spent outdoors, such as walking or cycling, may seem harmless, but they all add up. As a result, your skin is exposed to UV rays every day.
It is not possible to avoid UV radiation entirely, but you can limit your exposure by using effective sun protection and making sensible choices when outdoors.
Sun cream helps protect your skin, but clothing can also play an important role. With UV-STOP Protection Wash, you can make ordinary clothing UV-resistant up to UPF 50+, providing extra protection during everyday outdoor activities.

On the advice of my family doctor
Due to an accident I had several burns on my body and I had been advised by my doctor to avoid the uv rays as much as possible. A colleague pointed me to the protection wash and indeed I was considerably less affected by the sun.

Playing outside again without irritation
Our youngest daughter is covered in rashes at the slightest hint of sunshine. Putting sunscreen all over her was the only solution we thought. Until we heard about UV-STOP. However, we couldn’t imagine that it would work and when we bought it we thought, don’t tell anyone because they will all laugh at us if it turns out that it doesn’t work. After the first beautiful days, we are completely converted. Great our girl just played outside with the others and she is not bothered by anything. If only we had known sooner. People believe me it really works.
