What you need to know about SPF 15 and sun protection
SPF 15 is often listed on sunscreen products, but what exactly does it mean? In this article, we explain what SPF 15 entails, how it works, and whether SPF 15 provides sufficient protection for your skin. This will help you better understand how to protect yourself safely against UV radiation.
What is SPF 15?
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and indicates how well a sunscreen protects your skin against UVB radiation. UVB is the radiation that causes sunburn. SPF 15 means that your skin is theoretically protected against reddening 15 times longer than without protection. SPF 15 is therefore an indication of the degree of protection. This does depend on how intense the sun is and how often and how much sunscreen you apply.
How does SPF 15 work in practice?
Sunscreen with SPF 15 contains filters that block UV rays before they reach your skin. It offers basic protection, especially during short periods of exposure or when the sun is less intense. Please note that the protection only works optimally if you apply the cream generously and reapply it regularly. It is important to reapply sunscreen after swimming, perspiring or drying yourself, for example.
Is SPF 15 sufficient?
Whether SPF 15 is sufficient depends on your skin type, the length of time you spend outdoors and the intensity of the sun. For fair or sensitive skin and long periods in the sun, SPF 15 often does not provide sufficient protection. In such cases, a higher factor, such as SPF 30 or SPF 50, may be safer. SPF 15 can be used for a short walk or when you combine extra protection with UV protection through clothing. This protects your skin against both UVB and UVA rays, even if you forget to reapply the cream.
Protect your skin completely with SPF 15 and UV-STOP
SPF 15 provides initial protection against UV radiation. A combination of sun protection via sunscreen and clothing that blocks UV radiation provides reliable protection. With UV-STOP Protection Wash, you can give ordinary clothing a UPF of up to 50+, giving your skin extra protection, even on cloudy days or when the sun seems less intense.
SPF 15 can provide useful protection, especially during short periods of sun exposure. If you want to be absolutely sure of your protection against UV radiation, combine it with clothing treated with UV-STOP. This way, you can be sure that your skin remains safe, whether at home, at work or during a day outdoors.

SPF 15 stands for Sun Protection Factor 15. It indicates that your skin is theoretically protected against UVB radiation 15 times longer than without protection. It mainly protects against sunburn, but this depends on the strength of the sun, your skin type and how regularly you apply it.
That depends on how long you are in the sun and how intense the sun’s rays are. For short exposure, SPF 15 may be sufficient, but for fair skin or prolonged sun exposure, a higher factor such as SPF 30 or 50 is often safer, or in combination with UV-STOP Protection Wash.
The cream’s effectiveness is reduced, especially after swimming, sweating or drying off. It is important to reapply regularly to maintain optimal protection, even with SPF 15.
SPF only measures protection against UVB radiation, which causes redness and sunburn. For complete protection against UVA, which penetrates deeper into the skin, it is important to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen or wear clothing with UV protection, such as clothing treated with UV-STOP Protection Wash.
SPF 15 may be suitable for normal skin with short exposure to the sun. In general, people with fair or sensitive skin, children or people who spend a lot of time outdoors often benefit from a higher SPF or additional protection with UV-resistant clothing.

On the advice of my family doctor
Due to an accident I had several burns on my body and I had been advised by my doctor to avoid the uv rays as much as possible. A colleague pointed me to the protection wash and indeed I was considerably less affected by the sun.

Playing outside again without irritation
Our youngest daughter is covered in rashes at the slightest hint of sunshine. Putting sunscreen all over her was the only solution we thought. Until we heard about UV-STOP. However, we couldn’t imagine that it would work and when we bought it we thought, don’t tell anyone because they will all laugh at us if it turns out that it doesn’t work. After the first beautiful days, we are completely converted. Great our girl just played outside with the others and she is not bothered by anything. If only we had known sooner. People believe me it really works.
