SPF 50: strong sun protection, but what exactly does it mean?
SPF 50 is often found on sunscreen, but what does this number really mean? We explain the meaning of SPF and discuss what SPF is in cream, how SPF works and what SPF you need. This will give you a clear picture of what SPF 50 does and how it fits into good sun protection.
What is SPF in cream and how does it work?
Many people wonder what SPF in cream is and how it works. SPF in sunscreen contains filters that help block UV rays before they reach your skin. SPF 50 offers a high protection factor, but only if the sunscreen is applied properly and regularly.
The effectiveness of SPF is reduced by sweating, swimming or drying off. That is why sunscreen is not a one-time protection, but something you have to keep repeating, especially when you are outdoors a lot.
Which SPF and how much SPF do I need?
The SPF you need depends on how long and how intensely you are exposed to the sun. SPF 50 is often chosen for fair or sensitive skin, or when you are outdoors for long periods of time.
The amount of SPF is also important. A thin layer of sunscreen offers less protection than the number on the packaging suggests. SPF 50 only works well if you use enough sunscreen and reapply it regularly.
SPF 50 and UV protection through clothing
UV radiation is present all year round, even when it is cloudy. That is why good sun protection is very important. Good sun protection is more than just using sunscreen. Applying sunscreen remains important, but it does not always provide complete coverage, especially when you are moving around a lot, perspiring or forget to reapply it.
With UV-STOP Protection Wash, you can give ordinary clothing a UPF of up to 50+, which means the fabric blocks a large proportion of UV radiation. This way, your clothing actively contributes to sun protection and is a practical addition to your factor 50 sunscreen.
SPF 50 as part of total sun protection
SPF 50 can be a good choice, but it doesn’t work on its own. By combining sunscreen with UV-STOP Protection Wash, you create broader and more reliable protection against UV radiation. This ensures you are well protected against UV radiation, even on days when you spend a lot of time outdoors.

SPF 50 indicates that a sunscreen theoretically protects your skin from burning due to UVB radiation fifty times longer than without protection. This depends on factors such as sun strength and skin type.
SPF 50 offers higher protection, but only if you apply it sufficiently and reapply it regularly. A lower SPF that is used correctly can sometimes be more effective than SPF 50 that is applied too sparingly.
You need more sunscreen than many people think. A thin layer offers less protection than the SPF indicated on the packaging. Regular reapplication remains important. With UV-STOP detergent, you can turn your regular clothing into UV-resistant clothing. This is a good addition to sunscreen and provides even better protection against UV radiation.
SPF 50 is often chosen for fair or sensitive skin, or when you are outside for a long time, for example during work, sports or a day out. With UV-STOP Protection Wash, you are even better protected when you go outside, because your clothing is made UV-resistant.
Yes, it is precisely this combination that provides better protection. Washing your clothing with UV-STOP Protection Wash blocks UV radiation at times when applying sunscreen is less practical, for example.

On the advice of my family doctor
Due to an accident I had several burns on my body and I had been advised by my doctor to avoid the uv rays as much as possible. A colleague pointed me to the protection wash and indeed I was considerably less affected by the sun.

Playing outside again without irritation
Our youngest daughter is covered in rashes at the slightest hint of sunshine. Putting sunscreen all over her was the only solution we thought. Until we heard about UV-STOP. However, we couldn’t imagine that it would work and when we bought it we thought, don’t tell anyone because they will all laugh at us if it turns out that it doesn’t work. After the first beautiful days, we are completely converted. Great our girl just played outside with the others and she is not bothered by anything. If only we had known sooner. People believe me it really works.

Putting the test to the test
Today I took the plunge and despite the nice weather went outside with my clothes washed in UV-STOP protection wash to put it to the test and it really works. No rash nothing. What an invention.
